Design Manager

Our Client a World Class Supplier of Electrical & Electronic equipment to the utilities & power generation sectors are currently looking to strengthen their Team with a forward thinking, proactive Design Manager. Covering all southern regions you will be responsible for leading and coordinating consultants & contractors in the design, development and delivery of HV & EHV electrical equipment for substations. Knowledge & experience in the following areas is essential:-

• Managing technical resources in the transmission and distribution markets
• Having experience of successfully leading and implementing engineering projects within HV industry (preferably national grid)
• Understand CDM and all related legislation within the UK
• Work towards Zero By Design philosophy
• Innovate designs to achieve significant cost savings
• Design knowledge of primary & secondary electrical equipment, understanding the M&E and civil aspects of work
• Ability to perform sizing calculations for major electrical equipment
• Computer literate, be familiar with project planning tools & have an awareness of international standards.

Duties will include the management, coordination and integration of all policies, plans, budgets and working schedules ensuring designers interface with planning supervisors and construction partners across the south west alliance. All work carried out must comply with agreed standards and procedures through the delivery of the substation projects in order to meet completion schedules within budget and in accordance to specification.
